God works in mysterious and sometimes terrible ways it seems. I recently experienced the passing of my Uncle – David Kent Witherspoon, who was a MAJOR musical influence in my life. When I was a teenager he taught me to play the notes Bach and Beethoven wrote, not the ones I wasn’t disciplined enough to play correctly. Classical music is not Jazz. This was a stern but important lesson. Improvising today is based on serious study when I was young, and good things come to those who persevere.
This is a prized Steinway Model A – 1939 – 6’2″ Grand – completely restored – which it appears I have the opportunity to now own and play for the rest of my days as my primary axe. Oh darn… God bless you uncle David.
